Over twelve years ago, after testing at UMass Amherst University, we found that our well water had excessive manganese in the well.  After looking on the Internet for sources of purification systems to fix this problem, we found that Alpha Water Systems, Inc. had just the remedy we needed.  Greensand.

We have used this system since to lasting and satisfactory success.  No longer do we have brownish marks on our white clothes after washing … the drinking water has retained its refreshing taste and now, other than yearly maintenance, we rarely even think about the water quality coming from our well.

Thank you for producing such a quality product.  And, thank you for retaining such a wonderful technician/salesman as Bill James.  Over the years, he has been a fount of information, backup and assistance with any minor questions we have had on the System.

I found the leak! Not the Alpha unit!
It was a broken discharge hose that drains the resin tank (I guess) during its cycle.
You told me to run it through backwash and I did, watched it (boring) and it finally started gushing water out on to the floor.
I replaced the hose and will check the next few days to see if the floor is wet or not.
Thanks for your help. Please use my comments in your guestbook. I really appreciate the fact that you gave me the incentive to look more thoroughly, and not to just sell me another tank!!

Comments: For years we had perfectly neutral water but from a very low yield well.  We had our well fracked and now we have access to much more water than we need however the pH is 5.7.  The significantly acidic water was affecting the taste and was corroding our pipes.  I researched several suppliers and ended up purchasing the AFN-25.  The unit is extremely well-engineered (I am a professional engineer) and I have been doing plumbing and pipefitting for 35 years, but this unit is very easy for the average handyman to self-install.  Bill James is the technical support specialist at Alpha Water Systems Inc and he – wait for it – WORKS WEEKENDS!  He is extremely knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with.  I had the unit up and running within a few hours and most of that time was the slow wetting process and backwashing process.  The difference in the water was immediate!!!  My wife can now do a white load of laundry and not worry about a green copper tinge.  Most important – my coffee tastes better.

Comments: I've had a problem with hard water forever. Finally did a web search for water treatments Alpha water systems came up as a local distributor.  When I called I spoke with Bill James told him what the problem was and he recommended an acid neutralizer and a water softener. I researched what he told me and found he was right on. Bill was very accommodating arranged for me to pick up at a local delivery point to avoid shipping charges. Bill had the units preset and ready to go.  When installation was complete I called Bill and he walked me through the start up. I never had to open the manuals for instruction.  I had Bill on the line. I had water tests done 4 days after installation and the numbers were a big improvement over pre installation tests.

Comments: Well who knew you had to service your system every few years? Bill had told me 20 years ago when the system was installed but I didn’t listen and thought it would run for ever by just adding salt.  My wife had been complaining about buildup for a year or so and finally I broke down and called Bill. Bill showed up at my house and began to talk me through the cleaning of the system again and I found out that the system wasn’t working due to it being clogged for lack of service. He let me write everything down and take pictures with my phone. He stated that after 20 years the system was working just fine and that in a couple of hours we would feel a big difference in our water. My wife commented the following morning that her skin hair and the taste of the water was wonderful. Bill and I spent more time talking about our past than it took to clean and service the units. I would highly recommend Bill for a a new system or just to service a system you have.  Very rare to find someone like Bill.

continuous excellent service from it.  Last winter I had a pipe freeze
problem and had to replace the Air Inducer element of the system.  The
Air Inducer itself  was undamaged, but the connecting PVC had been
cemented and could not be separated.   I telephoned Alphasystems and

Bill James was a significant help in choosing the correct unit based on the iron levels in our water. Seven months ago the timer on the system failed. A subsequent call to Bill, and a new timer/system controller was on the way. Due to several factors, I did not install the unit until yesterday. Comments: I just had the pleasure of spending time with Bill James while went over service on my 15-plus year old water softener. Bill taught me things about my water softener, I had no idea about. For example, I had been worried in the past about radon in my water and had no idea that my water softener actually remedies that issue.
He gave me a lesson in what maintenance I needed to do and offered me the option of a cheaper fix rather than replacing the timer on the softener. He gave me his tech phone number and told me to call with any questions. Wow! What a nice guy. Very competent, very kind, very thorough.
Although I think these water softeners are such a good product, I probably won't need servicing for 3 more years, he will be the guy I call to find out how to service it again. I highly recommend Bill.

them and then discovered that my contractor had ordered one too. I called and asked if the
order had shipped, and it already had. But they went out of their way, and did some magic
with the shipper, and were able to call it back! They credited my account for the full
amount, and all was happy. If they'll do this for someone who hadn't even been a
customer before, I can't imagine how well they'd treat their actual customers! I'm
definitely going to order all my UV bulbs from them, and send as much business their
way as I can! How often these days do you run across a company that is such a pleasure to

beep so I assumed it was time to replace the bulb but that was not the problem. So I called
trojan and they said that they had a problem with the controller and I would have to get

well. As for the function of the system, we couldn't be happier or more satisfied. Prior to
installing the system we had severe hydrogen sulfide issues. The whole house stunk of
rotten eggs every time someone took a shower or ran the clothes washer. The stink, bad
taste and slippery feel of the water persisted at every sink as well. With the Sulfur Breaker

crippy1971@yahoo.ca Our sulphur fluxuates through out the year. Sometimes we get a
black discharge through the water lines for a brief second, then it clears. We have a
culsorb filtering system now but it is 20 yrs old. Please e mail me with some prices. I
really like the sulphur buster that removes 15ppm. you suggested the other system that

Comments:     Belmar is on an aquifer and my well water contains 1.5 ppm of Iron. The
Iron filter I purchased from Alpha Water Sytems worked great after I got it installed. The
tech support from Bill was great. It took me about 1.5 days to install the filter as I had to
solder the copper pipe and bypass valves. It was my first plumbing job so it took me a
while to lay it all out and do it. In hind sight, I could have used plastic pipe and it would
have been much faster. In the end, it works great. I took the iron test after running the unit
for about an hour. It read 0 ppm of iron. I expect no more rusty sidewalks.
 
The tech support was great. I called Bill about 4 or 5 times for various questions. He was
patient and helpful.

Comments:     Thanks to Alpha I have no more stinking water. Brand new house with
high H2S levels. The first "company" I had in recommended a greensand filter, which
worked properly for the first week and then there was always daily breakthrough of the
sulfur water, and almost required daily regeneration. Bill took his time talking to me
about the Terminator and did not try to "hard sell" at all. When we removed the initial
system, after only 3 months of use the pipes were coated with Manganese and Iron oxide,
the first guy told me that there was no iron or manganese in the water (of the 300 feet of
my well 272 feet of it are drilled through shale). Thanks again Bill for all the help and the
wonderful system, I was especially thankful for your experience with the aquifer in
Wantage and the types of water problems we experience.

was of good quality and I did not need a water softner.My water tested at 2 grain of
hardness.The local company that came out told me I needed to spend $2500 for a softner.
 
I called the lab that tested the water and was also told it was naturally soft water.

GE RO Unit manual shows membrane changes yearly, expensive. The unit is 2 years old
and the meter tells me that the membrane is still working and when to replace the
membrane when needed, not by the book!

Comments:     I had Alpha Water Systems sell us a "Terminator" in my home after my
green sand filter stopped doing the job. What a difference!! Bill James walked us through
the entire install to make sure that it was done professionally and to his specs. It is like
night and day. I went with the "Terminator" on Bill's recommendation and it was the right
decision. No more filters to replace and no more messy Potassium to buy and pour in. I
will probably save at least $120.00 yearly on that stuff. As an added bonus my water
pressure has greatly increased due to the added 15 gallons per minute flow that the
"Terminator" has added. This is a great company to deal with and they really mean it
when they say that they stand by their products and always call back with answers to your

Comments:     My wife and I will be building a home next spring in an area that will
require a well. The neighbor is just finishing their home in which the water from the well
has Iron and Hydrogen Sulfide. My wife and I are assuming that when we drill our well
we more than likely will have the same water problems. We are looking for a system that

Comments:     My thanks to Bill and Alpha/ReoPure - I bought a house last Oct., it came
with a ReoPure 10, but the water had a horrid plastic smell to it. I put off dealing with it,
as I had no idea who installed it, had no idea of its history (looking at the filters, I don't
think they were changed in 10 years!), and did not want to track down some obscure
company and deal with the headache of figuring out what I need and probably getting
ripped off. Little did I know that when I found the Alpha web site and called the number,
there was Bill to tell me when my unit was made, what I needed for it, exactly why my
water smelled that way, and even to advise how to proceed when I managed to shear off a
pipe elbow while replacing the RO filter (I EZ-Out'ed the piece of nylon pipe from the
hole, Bill, and found a brass elbow locally that fit, so the system is charging again happily
right now). So it turned out that call was the best I ever made, life got much easier! Now I
actually look forward to ordering replacement filters when the time comes, as I've found a
company I can trust...

juice.They spent 3 hours showing me my water is funky. They used a coagulating test I
saw on 20/20 as BS. Tried to sell me a $4000.00 softener that you advertise on your site
for $1200.00 They told me my water was not drinkable and wanted to sell me this
1000.00 purifier.I had the city water independently tested and the test showed the water
OK except hardness. I am glad I found you. Honesty goes along way!

I really appreciate the efforts of Bill James in getting back to me both

I have an additional question: how much is the line from the water
source to the reopure 10 unit? It is just a 1/4" tube, but it has a screw on
adapter which meshes nicely with the stem mentioned below.

Hooray! We have soft water again! No more iron stains or sulfur smell! (Thanks for
trying to fix our OLD dinosaur of a Culligan first....we knew it was "dead in the water" so
to speak, but you took the time to be sure before saying we needed a new one) It sure is
nice to find a contractor like you who will return a phone call AND give you straight,
honest answer-not just an answer to "make a buck" like so many others do. You came to
the house to deliver the system exactly when you said you'd be here (imagine, not having
to wait around for a delivery guy who says 'we'll be there between 8a.m. and 4p.m.!!) It
sure is nice dealing with AlphaWaterSystems! If you are looking for answers to your
water problems or just want to know more about water in genereal, there is a reason they

Comments:     We had problems with coliform bacteria for 3 years. I hauled water from
my parents' house 8 miles away twice a week for 3 years. We tried bleaching our well at
least 15 times. Shock treatments, letting the bleach sit for 1 week, you name it, we tried it.
Nothing worked. Our well driller suggested pushing the casing down some more. He
pushed it 6 feet, it took a whole day, and cost $600. That didn't work either. Then he
suggested drilling another well. I was at the end of my rope. I searched the net and got
info on a chlorinator system but that was over $2,000! I wanted something that was
guaranteed to work and wasn't so expensive. I found Alpha Water Systems and sent a
letter to Bill James. He was a great help. I finally ordered the UV light, and got it
installed. I still waited about 1 month before getting another bacteria test done. I wasn't
trusting this immediately. The test came back with NO Bacteria! I have never been so
happy! Thank God I found Alpha Water Systems and Bill James. They made a believer
out of me!

 Comments: Dear Bill, My future cook (renob) showed me the Email you sent concerning ion exchange for nitrate treatment. Our new well reduced the nitrate level from 40 ppm to 13.7 ppm, but we are still a little high for potable water (10 ppm). Instead of fooling around with deeper drilling and sleeves, I think an ion exchange system makes more sense. I have not had the full analysis done on the water yet, but the iron will be high because there is fools gold in the tailings. The bathrooms in the building will be isolated from the treatment process and the resturant will seat about 60 people. I haven't a clue on total gallons/day, but I will need at least 10 gpm volume. I also have not talked to the local health department yet, but can not imagine why they would have trouble with ion exchange. I had a company come down from Pougkeepsie and tried to sell me a water softener...I told him when he called I had one and a inline filter...all I wanted was the green sand filter... Well he took about an hour to test our water and tell me I already had soft water but there was manganese in it. I told him this before he came...what a waste of time.
